I want to try my hand at hexing a new fish species or variety... But I have some ideas I'd like to pass by people first.
Would you prefer dogz-based or catz-based? Would also be good to know why!
Keep in mind that you can't 'pose' fish if they are based off the head ball like the VPZ files and, for the time being, I intend to stick to doing it this way.
With or without eyelids? I'm wondering if I could totally omit the eyes and just put addballz in instead to make them more realistic.
Any ideas for which species or varieties (e.g. types of goldfish) you'd like to see? For the moment, I'd rather go for something where the males and females look the same.
I'm also thinking it may be worth having separate overwriting files for each sex in future so as to avoid weird mixes. What do you think about this? You'd have to only adopt males from one file and only females from the other and it would only matter where fish look really different like in bettas. Would make breeding a whole lot easier though!
Ones I'm considering:
- Three-spot gourami and its colour variants
- Pearl gourami
- 'True' giant gourami (Osphronemus sp)
- Oscar cichlid
- Convict cichlid - maybe with furfiles for variants. Some blotched tabby ones may work!
- Various goldfish varieties: ryukin comes to mind first, maybe bubble-eye
- Flowerhorn cichlid - I'd just put one basic colour/pattern in and let people hex variants though
I'm trying to either think of species/varieties that are popularly shown in real life or just picking species I personally love (i.e. all gouramies )
Any thoughts are welcome!
