I hope you don't mind me doing this... I have some things I'd like to suggest while this is still getting started.
Firstly, with the shows...
With guppies, showing tends to be done with whole groups of fish with the aim being to have as many similar-looking fish as possible to suggest you have some kind of stable strain going. So maybe, with the guppies, split shows so you can show fish as trios (1 male, 2 females) or in groups of 5 or 10 or whatever you like. Either all male or all female. You don't HAVE to do this - just saying we should look into things like this to make it as realistic as possible.
I'd also want to see a forum for showing other tropical fish collectively. I don't really know how you'd judge them but I assume the breedfiles don't exist yet so the standards can't be created yet anyway.
We need links to the files in the standards, of course...
The betta standard you currently have is good but maybe base it off real life standards more? Like the existing file may not include them but we aren't limited to just halfmoons, plakats, veiltails etc... There are halfmoon plakats, doubletails, doubletail plakats, combtails, crowntails etc etc - and all the female versions too Nevermind the existing file doesn't have all these variations. This is an excuse for someone to make them. And maybe it's worth dividing the betta standard appropriately so each type is judged separately - like in real life.
Colours also are an issue here... The file may only include some solid colours and marbling etc. But we can hex more. I say this especially cause, in real life, I used to breed copper/gold and other metallics, dragons etc... And there are more specific butterfly classes and such.
I have NO idea how you could go about setting up a guppy standard lol SO many colours and patterns...
Goldfish should be an easier one to do. Maybe divide into fancy and not for now?
Also wanted to say that going with the PKC-style majors/minors may not be the best way to do this showing system. Especially as you can't have that many people running shows to begin with. Maybe just a pure points system? Don't know... Or maybe give some kind of award for winning a class that people can display on their fishery page? Different according to show? But a standard (smallish) size... People may start wanting to collect them, which would be fun. So the aim could be getting one of each to prove quality. Just an idea.
One last thing, you need to define somewhere what constitutes a good show entry. Can all these fish breeds 'pose'? Does it look good? Are you familiar with the way horsez are shown at Seeing Stars? I'm not a member there but they don't 'pose' their petz. Maybe this should be something similar.
Again, I'm just throwing around ideas/my thoughts. Take or leave whatever - it's not my club! I'm very excited about this though so, if there's anything I can do, let me know
